5 days a week I find myself commuting to Tampa and sometimes I get a little sidetracked and just choose to explore. On one of these recent adventures I found myself in Ybor City. I was passing by a lot of delicious looking restaurants when one caught my eye. It didn’t seem like much at first, but I decided to give a place called Row Boat a try. This was probably the best decision I made all week. I was a little apprehensive. I walked in at about 5:00 PM and the place was deserted, but I stayed and ordered anyway.
Row boat focuses on Greek food, but really broadens its cuisine to the Mediterranean. I went for my trusted favorites at anywhere that has Greek and ordered the spanakopita and a lamb gyro. On a recommendation from the server, I also got an order of “Greek” fries.
When my order came out, I knew it was going to be good. Let’s start with the spanakopita. It has a deliciously flaky pastry with the perfect amount of spinach and cheese inside. This place makes everything from scratch, so it was paired with a homemade tzatziki sauce which was creamy and not overwhelming. It came with a salad, which I hadn’t expected, that was made with a homemade dressing, also delicious.
