Good morning lovely people! I know it’s been a little while since I’ve put anything up, but things have been a little hectic. I took a mini vacation this past weekend to escape the stress and had the opportunity to travel to Georgia. So this week will be dedicated to the delicious food that Atlanta, Georgia has to offer.

I got into Atlanta early Saturday morning and my immediate thought was “I need food…NOW!” This trip was pretty last minute, so I didn’t put in the usual research I normally do for finding great local food. I knew I didn’t have to worry though because my friend from Atlanta knew the food scene pretty well. She mentioned Ria’s Bluebird  and I knew we had to go. I had heard about this place through word of mouth, on other travel sites, and from general research (Yelp, Urbanspoon, Food Blogs).

We pulled up to the restaurant at 8:00 AM and there was already a small group of people waiting for breakfast. We got seated and I have to say this is one of the cutest and most kitshy places I’ve eaten at. I couldn’t wait for the food! The menu here wasn’t a large one, but it had very interesting choices. I ended up settling on their omelette of the day, which happened to be a ham/gruyere (I’m a sucker for cheesy goodness!) combo. It came with a sweet potato cake, biscuit and bacon, so I was sold.

Service was great and when the food arrived our table was completely silent because we were too busy eating. The omelette, although a standard breakfast option, was unique and delicious. The ham/gruyere combo worked for me so well and the omelette was fluffy, which not all restaurants can pull off. The sweet potato cake was different but very tasty, it was a patty of mashed sweet potato, cooked on a griddle. The homemade biscuit was fluffy and buttery, and bacon…was bacon, which is never a disappointment.

Another notable item that we shared at our table was the bionic breakfast. This was skillet potatoes and sauteed veggies, all topped with a spicy tofu sauce. This was amazing. It had this addicting quality to it, with the seasoning on the veggies and the spicy creamy quality of the sauce.

My meal was perfection and I left completely satisfied. If you find yourself in Atlanta check this place out for breakfast or lunch. Another plus is there are quite a few vegetarian and vegan breakfast options. Enjoy!
