A couple of weeks ago I had strong, strong cravings for Chinese takeout. The only problem was, while my apartment is in a great location with so many amazing food options close-by, it was severely lacking in a good Chinese takeout place.

To solve that problem I decided I’d just make up own food! I’ve made this recipe a couple of times before, and I can assure you it’s always a hit. Not only that, you  can make so many of these for the price of a couple from a takeout place! 

The recipe is below, let me know how yours goes!

“Takeout” Krab Rangoon


1 package wonton wrappers

8 oz cream cheese, slightly softened

6 oz krab meat, chopped

1/2 cup diced white or yellow onion

1 tablespoon soy sauce

2 tablespoons water

duck sauce (optional)


-In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, krab meat, onion, and soy sauce

-Use a tablespoon to add filling slightly off center of the wonton wrapper, leaving room around  the edges for sealing

-Brush water along two edges of wrapper and fold over to seal in a triangular shape

-Make sure to try to remove any excess air bubbles and not to overfill the wrappers

-Heat oil of your choice and add Rangoon once it is hot enough, do not overfill saucepan

-Once Rangoon turn a dark golden brown, remove from oil and drain on a plate

-Serve with duck sauce or sauce of your choice for dipping
