Austin Edition: Chi’lantro BBQ

Location: 1509 S Lamar Blvd Austin, TX 78704

Oh Korean food how I love thee! Central Florida has a severe lack of Korean food, especially modern or fusion Korean food at that. While doing my Texas food research I stumbled across Chi’lantro and knew it was a must. How did they win me over? Two words: Kimchi Fries!!

After getting to Chi’lantro I got a little trigger happy on the ordering. I excitedly ordering the fries, but I also ordered kimchi fried rice balls and a beef rice bowl. I was with my friend and we decided to head to Mt Bonnell to take in the view with our meal. We opened everything and couldn’t wait to pig out! Continue reading “Austin Edition: Chi’lantro BBQ”

Austin Edition: Gourdough’s Public House

Location: 2700 S Lamar Boulevard Austin, TX 78704

Maybe donuts are becoming the theme of this trip? I’m not quite sure, but I’m not even mad about it. Because eating donuts on the road wasn’t enough, we got to Austin and the first thing we did was eat at a restaurant that specializes in donuts! I think my friends know the way to my heart.

I knew I would like Gourdough’s the moment I walked in. It was hipstery and cute, but very laid-back. The menu had so many amazing items on it, and some had witty innuendos as names, which made them all the more appealing.  Continue reading “Austin Edition: Gourdough’s Public House”

Houston Edition: Shipley’s Do-Nuts

This is not the first time, nor will it be the last time, that I blog about donuts. I mean, who doesn’t love donuts?! They’re perfect pillows of doughy, sweet goodness! Texas definitely didn’t fail to provide me with delicious donut options when I visited.

After deciding to take a last-minute trip to Texas to visit friends and go on food adventures, we picked up some Shipley’s before we headed out on a road trip to Austin. Not only does Shipley’s do donuts, they also have these delicious creations called kolaches (found all over Texas!) which are soft, fresh buns filled with smoked sausage and cheese.  Continue reading “Houston Edition: Shipley’s Do-Nuts”

Baoery Asian Gastropub

Location: 617 E Central Boulevard Orlando, FL 32801

I was eager to try Baoery ever since I heard rumors of it opening in Orlando. So late one Saturday night I adventured downtown to give it a try.

This was one of those places with a menu that made everything sound appealing, so it was quite hard to narrow down my options, so what did I do? Order it all! The main thing I was eager to try was the DAP! Which was a rice bowl with veggies, a fried egg, braised duck, and seaweed. I also ordered a couple of bao buns and macaroni and kimcheese.  Continue reading “Baoery Asian Gastropub”

Big John’s Rockin BBQ

Location: 324 Broadway Kissimmee, FL 34741

I’ve lived in the South for a long time now. I’m not saying that makes me a BBQ expert, but I know good food, and that includes good BBQ. I’m very picky about BBQ because it’s not my favorite thing in the world, so if you’ve won me over, you’re doing it right!

I headed to Big John’s on the recommendation of a friend who was craving eating here on an almost daily basis at that point. I needed to know what all the hype was about. I walked in and the smell of smoked meat overpowered me, it was wonderful. After talking to the friendly staff for a few minutes, I decided on a sampler platter so I could try everything!
