Gnarly Barley

Location: 7431 S. Orange Ave Orlando, FL 32809

I’m always in the area by Gnarly Barley and I’ve passed this place so many times, but have never gone in. It’s literally a tiny shack on Orange Ave that looks like suspect things happen within its doors. I’m so glad a friend suggested the place and that we headed over for lunch. Although I was apprehensive, I’m always done for an adventure so I decided to give it a shot. Continue reading “Gnarly Barley”

D.C. Edition: Birch and Barley

Location: 1337 14th St NW Washington D.C., 20005

I started strong with the D.C. food scene and I wasn’t ready to end it. The next night, I was with a different best friend and he had some good food in mind. We were staying in a touristy part of town, but we made our way to a local place called Birch and Barley. It’s the bar above its sister restaurant, Churchkey (which our unplanned selves did not make reservations for!), but serves a lot of the same menu items as downstairs. Continue reading “D.C. D.C. Edition: Busboys and Poets

Location: 2021 14th Street NW Washington D.C., 20009

As you have probably guessed by the title, Busboys and Poets is not a Central Florida eat, but bear with me. My logic? As Floridians stuck in a tourist destination, we at times like to take the occasional trip ourselves to play the tourist. Enter Washington D.C. and the deliciousness that is Busboys and Poets into my life. Continue reading “D.C. Edition: Busboys and Poets”

Ararat Euro Food Bistro

Location: 7540 Universal Blvd Orlando, FL 32819

So I woke up one day with a craving for delicious European food. Maybe I was feeling nostalgic for food I had growing up, but I had tunnel vision and the light at the end of the tunnel was leading me to schnitzel. If you haven’t had schnitzel before it’s basically a pounded out meat steak (usually pork) that’s breadcrumbed and pan fried.

So what did I do? I went to google and searched “schnitzel Orlando.” Lol. Ararat Bistro was one of the first to come up and since it got some decent reviews I decided to give it a try. Continue reading “Ararat Euro Food Bistro”

Mediterranean Deli

Location: 981 Fairbanks Ave Orlando, FL 32804

Hello all!

It’s been a busy food adventures week for me! I thought I better start sharing the location of the places I actually go so if you’re from around here, or just visiting, you know where to go!

A friend brought me to his side of town and we decided to check out a favorite of his, Mediterranean Deli. It’s a small location found in a strip mall, but when we walked in we were greeted with a friendly “Hello Friends!” and the delightful smell of sizzling meat! I was beyond excited because I love good, fresh Greek food any day! Continue reading “Mediterranean Deli”

Rise-N-Dine

The last food adventure in my mini Atlanta trip series is a good one, Rise-N-Dine. The name was cute enough to catch my attention and once we got there, the place truly lived up to its cutesy name.

Rise-N-Dine is located close to Emory University and is a very quaint breakfast or lunch spot. My friends and I decided to get one last local meal together before I headed back to Orlando. The menu had so many delicious and interesting options, but I ended up settling on something that  I can assure you I had never seen before, it was called the Polish omelette, and it contained pierogies, kielbasa, onion, and cheddar cheese inside the omelette, topped off with some sour cream. With the omelette, I had a fresh homemade biscuit with apple butter (not sure if handmade, but it was delish regardless!). Continue reading “Rise-N-Dine”
