St. Augustine Edition: The Hyppo

Location: 48 Charlotte Street St Augustine, FL 32084

After a long, hot day of exploring historic St Augustine, a sweet treat was a must! As we wandered through the small streets and alleys of St Augustine, we stumbled upon an oasis of frozen treats, The Hyppo!

We walked in and were greeted by friendly faces eager to have us try the popsicles! There were so many options. As I made my way down the frozen case of goodness, I was having trouble deciding on just one.¬†After much deliberation, I settled on a cinnamon pear pie popsicle (or some flavor similar) and to add more decadence to the treat, I dipped it in chocolate. St Augustine Edition: Maple Street Biscuit Company

Location: Multiple (but I went to: 39 Cordova Street St Augustine, FL 32084)

On an impromptu cousin day trip to St Augustine, we found ourselves starving and ready for food after making the rainy drive from Orlando. On the advice of a friend, we decided to head to Maple Street Biscuit Company for some satisfying comfort food.

Upon arrival, the menu alone was enough to send a tingle of excitement down my spine. Maple Street is one of those places where every single thing on the menu is a serious contender for delicious eats.¬† Continue reading “St Augustine Edition: Maple Street Biscuit Company”

ShishCo Mezze & Grill

Location: 118 Lake Avenue Maitland, Florida 32751

Another perfect weekend for an adventure…especially a food one! Is there ever a bad time to try delicious food? I woke up and had one thought on my mind…kabobs! I know, such a random thing, but hey, if you want it you want it. I had heard about ShishCo and knew it was a hike, but I decided to take the trip out to Maitland to see what this place was all about. Continue reading “ShishCo Mezze & Grill”

Mamak

Location: 1231 E. Colonial Drive Orlando, FL 32803

Oh Mamak. At first I was scared, then I was intrigued, then I ate there and couldn’t wait for more. Let me break it down for you. I have wanted to try Mamak but I’m deathly allergic to nuts so I was scared, because it seemed like a lot of the dishes had nuts in some form. Continue reading “Mamak”

Gnarly Barley

Location: 7431 S. Orange Ave Orlando, FL 32809

I’m always in the area by Gnarly Barley and I’ve passed this place so many times, but have never gone in. It’s literally a tiny shack on Orange Ave that looks like suspect things happen within its doors. I’m so glad a friend suggested the place and that we headed over for lunch. Although I was apprehensive, I’m always done for an adventure so I decided to give it a shot. Continue reading “Gnarly Barley”

Caffe Positano

Location: 1665 WP Ball Blvd Sanford, FL 32771

Pizza is a staple in my life. I’m pretty sure it is in a lot of people’s lives. I mean it’s crust, sauce, cheese, toppings. It’s got all your food pyramid basics covered in one easy to eat meal.

I’ve had a lot of pizza in my time. Some good, some not so great, some downright awful. I actually cringe thinking about pizza I’ve had with depressing toppings, stingy amounts of cheese, and cardboard crust. Caffe Positano had none of that! This is definitely one of the best pizza experiences I’ve had! Continue reading “Caffe Positano”

Cafe Pinar

Location: 730 Sand Lake Road #30 Orlando, FL, 32809

Oh Cafe Pinar, what a delightful surprise you were! My roommate suggested trying this place, and since I was in no particular food mood (meaning I was hungry and would eat anything and everything), we headed to Cafe Pinar.

It was lunch on a Saturday so the place was pretty packed but we were able to get seated at a booth and were eager to order. Passing all the tables on the way, literally everything that people had looked good. When we sat down to look at the menu, everything sounded great. We labored for a while trying to narrow down our options, but finally I settled on Roja Vieja with plantains, black beans, and rice and my roommate got the Cuban sandwich.

Kombo Kitchen

Location: 3316 S. Dale Mabry Highway Tampa, FL, 33629

Located in an obscure former-house off of Dale Mabry, Kombo Kitchen is full of delightfully pleasant treats once you go in. I happened upon this place one day while searching for a good Asian lunch option and now it’s my go-to for Thai food.

My family were in town for the afternoon last week, and I knew I wanted to take them here. We settled on two dishes, one was Beef Pad Se Ew and the other was Crab Fried Rice. I don’t think there’s been a time I’ve come to Kombo Kitchen and not ordered crab fried rice! I love it! Continue reading “Kombo Kitchen”

Teak Neighborhood Grill

Location: 6400 Times Square Avenue Orlando, Florida 32835

One of my nearest and dearest friends is moving this weekend for work, so we recently had one last brunch together to celebrate before he headed off. We decided on what has now become to us, an old favorite.

Last year, I stumbled upon Teak. Unassuming, and relatively hidden in a residential part of Orlando, Teak Neighborhood Grill has some of the best sandwiches, burgers, and food in general that I’ve experienced in a while. I’ve never been disappointed going to Teak and in my opinion, it’s worth the drive to enjoy what this place has to offer! Continue reading “Teak Neighborhood Grill”
