Ever wake up with a craving that just HAS to be satisfied?! The day I ventured to Sofrito was one of those days. Oh South Pacific Grill. You were one of those enigmatic food trucks that would always slip from my grasp when I got too close. Christo’s Cafe

Location: 1815 Edgewater Drive Orlando, FL 32804

Look who is finally eating locally in Orlando again! It’s been a little while, but after deciding to play hooky from work, I knew the perfect thing to do was find somewhere delicious to eat! After slaving away all day (ok, not really slaving away) blogging, I deserved a good lunch.

Since I was finally in the area, I settled on Christo’s Cafe. I was excited because I would always pass by around breakfast time and it was ALWAYS packed with people. I went at an odd in between lunch and dinner time, linner I guess? Can that be a thing? Lol. It was pretty empty, which meant I could enjoy a nice quiet solo lunch. Continue reading “Christo’s Cafe”

St. Augustine Edition: The Hyppo

Location: 48 Charlotte Street St Augustine, FL 32084

After a long, hot day of exploring historic St Augustine, a sweet treat was a must! As we wandered through the small streets and alleys of St Augustine, we stumbled upon an oasis of frozen treats, The Hyppo!

We walked in and were greeted by friendly faces eager to have us try the popsicles! There were so many options. As I made my way down the frozen case of goodness, I was having trouble deciding on just one. After much deliberation, I settled on a cinnamon pear pie popsicle (or some flavor similar) and to add more decadence to the treat, I dipped it in chocolate. Continue reading “St. Augustine Edition: The Hyppo”

Houston Edition: Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-BQ

Location: Multiple locations

How could I possibly go to Texas and not indulge in BBQ at least once!? After heading back to Houston before the flight home, BBQ was on the agenda. Lucky for me Rudy’s is a local chain of BBQ restaurants that my friend decided to bring us to.

I should put out there now, if I haven’t already, that I’m not the biggest fan of BBQ. I’m not sure why exactly, it’s just usually not a food I go out of my way to eat or try. Everyone has preferences right? Continue reading “Houston Edition: Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-BQ”

Austin Edition: Chi’lantro BBQ

Location: 1509 S Lamar Blvd Austin, TX 78704

Oh Korean food how I love thee! Central Florida has a severe lack of Korean food, especially modern or fusion Korean food at that. While doing my Texas food research I stumbled across Chi’lantro and knew it was a must. How did they win me over? Two words: Kimchi Fries!!

After getting to Chi’lantro I got a little trigger happy on the ordering. I excitedly ordering the fries, but I also ordered kimchi fried rice balls and a beef rice bowl. I was with my friend and we decided to head to Mt Bonnell to take in the view with our meal. We opened everything and couldn’t wait to pig out! Continue reading “Austin Edition: Chi’lantro BBQ”

Austin Edition: Gourdough’s Public House

Location: 2700 S Lamar Boulevard Austin, TX 78704

Maybe donuts are becoming the theme of this trip? I’m not quite sure, but I’m not even mad about it. Because eating donuts on the road wasn’t enough, we got to Austin and the first thing we did was eat at a restaurant that specializes in donuts! I think my friends know the way to my heart.

I knew I would like Gourdough’s the moment I walked in. It was hipstery and cute, but very laid-back. The menu had so many amazing items on it, and some had witty innuendos as names, which made them all the more appealing.  Continue reading “Austin Edition: Gourdough’s Public House”
