Tampa Edition: PAO Cafe

Location: 14837 N. Florida Avenue Tampa, Florida 33613

Growing up with a Filipino mom, meat and rice was the common choice for lunch or dinner. So when I think of comfort food, that’s what I pretty much always trend towards. For how delicious Filipino food is, it’s highly underrated. It’s hard to find it in Florida so when I stumble upon it, I have to give it a try! I had heard about Pao from friends before, so when I found myself in the area, I knew I needed to stop in.

Christo’s Cafe

Location: 1815 Edgewater Drive Orlando, FL 32804

Look who is finally eating locally in Orlando again! It’s been a little while, but after deciding to play hooky from work, I knew the perfect thing to do was find somewhere delicious to eat! After slaving away all day (ok, not really slaving away) blogging, I deserved a good lunch.

Since I was finally in the area, I settled on Christo’s Cafe. I was excited because I would always pass by around breakfast time and it was ALWAYS packed with people. I went at an odd in between lunch and dinner time, linner I guess? Can that be a thing? Lol. It was pretty empty, which meant I could enjoy a nice quiet solo lunch. Continue reading “Christo’s Cafe”

St. Augustine Edition: The Hyppo

Location: 48 Charlotte Street St Augustine, FL 32084

After a long, hot day of exploring historic St Augustine, a sweet treat was a must! As we wandered through the small streets and alleys of St Augustine, we stumbled upon an oasis of frozen treats, The Hyppo!

We walked in and were greeted by friendly faces eager to have us try the popsicles! There were so many options. As I made my way down the frozen case of goodness, I was having trouble deciding on just one. After much deliberation, I settled on a cinnamon pear pie popsicle (or some flavor similar) and to add more decadence to the treat, I dipped it in chocolate. So, I’ve been to New Orleans, I’ve been around, I’ve had beignets. And in sleepy little Lakeland, Florida I have found the softest, crispest, most delicious beignets my taste buds have had the pleasure of tasting.

En route to picking up some friends from a cruise in Tampa, I got a bit peckish. I’d heard about The Poor Porker before an decided to give myself a little breakfast treat. Continue reading “Lakeland Edition: The Poor Porker”
